The women's 10 metre air rifle competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics was, following a relatively new Olympic tradition, the first event to be concluded at the Athens games. It was held on the day after the opening ceremony, August 14, at the Markópoulo Olympic Shooting Centre. The first Gold medal of the games went to China and Du Li after a new final Olympic record, half a point ahead of Russia's Lioubov Galkina.
